Potsdam, 03.05. - 04.05.2013
This was a two day workshop held in Potsdam at hotel Arcona. Potsdam is a beautiful city situated at river Havel and it is well known in the Germany history as a home for King Frederick the Great. We started our journey at 7 O’clock and arrived at the workshop venue a few minutes to 9 O’clock. Immediately after our arrival we had a one hour session where two of our invited guests presented their work. This was followed by a coffee and tea break. We then had a one and half hour session before proceeding to the hotel restaurant for a very delicious meal in form of a buffet.
After the lunch break we boarded a public bus to Sanssouci park where two guided tours awaited us. One was conducted in English while the other in German. The park hosts a botanical garden and many magnificent buildings. We learnt a good deal of the park history during a one and half hour tour.
Differently from the earlier workshops of the GRK, a poster session was planned for the evening. Students from various groups introduced their posters after which professors and other students conducted one to one discussions at different poster stations. We ended the long day with dinner at El Peurto restaurant.
Presentations resumed on Saturday morning at 8 O’clock until the afternoon at 1 O’clock, with a 30 minutes break in between. At 2 O’clock we set for our journey to Magdeburg after having lunch at the venue.
