Tangermünde, 29.10. - 30.10.2010
After starting new RTG school on April 2010, Tangermünde workshop was the first one for GRK 1554. There were totally 25 student lectures, 2 professor lectures, and one invited special guest lecture. The workshop was held in Ring hotel Tangermünde. The workshop program were organized two post doctoral students Dr. Ashok Nallathambi and Dr. Azamat Omorov. In the first day, there were 17 lectures discussed under two different themes. Morning sessions are taking by thermal processing of materials and the evening session discussed about crystal plasticity. After the lunch, there was an interesting guided city tour. The participants are divided into two groups who understands German and English. It was very interesting for the new students to know each other and their working topic during the city walking tour. The story of the women executed in public was the biggest tragedy and everybody got embarrassed.
At the end of first day lectures, Prof. Streitenberger presented very nicely about Lazare and Sadi Carnot. He explained the migration of Carnot from France to Magdeburg, Germany and his contribution to thermodynamics. Following him, Prof.Specht proposed his approximation theories to predict the global warming effect. He created a significant awareness among the students about the climate change due to increase in emission of CO2. The dinner was served in hotel. The second day had 11 lectures including a guest from Bremen. Dr. Dreyer presented his interested results about the porous structures and its application in Space technology.
